We present the finest of Indian artisan fabrics in these stunning duvet covers made of ikat. 100% cotton Red Blue   ikat weaver Click for slideshow     It is only because of the royal patronage of the maharajahs that this extraordinary «ikat» skill was perfected, long ago, in the east India state of Orissa.     The artistry of ikat weavers continues today in the production of exquisite sari fabrics.     Survival of the skill is further encouraged by our innovation of these ikat duvet covers – woven and produced exclusively for the customers of Onevillage.com.     Weavers skilled in the production of superb sari fabric now apply identical technique to the fabric in these gloriously smooth and extra light-weight duvet covers.     Complex dyeing is required to produce ikat:     Each length of yarn must contain within it the whole sequence of many colours necessary, along with other equally uniquely dyed yarns, to build up the pattern of the complete fabric.     Working out and implementing the dyeing schemes for each length of yarn is followed by skilled handloom weaving that must correctly place together the appropriate individual yarns to build the detailed design that you see in the finished fabric. Ikat must thus be the apex of handloom weaving. ALL THIS CREATIVITY is done entirely by the craft artisan.     The dyeing and the weaving of the fabric results entirely from the skill of artisans, working without the use of any power mechanized equipment.     Your duvet cover will be a unique creation; this is not a mass-produced product.     Our ikat here is woven by members of the weavers' own cooperative society of the village of Lurupali.     After weaving, the fabric is taken to an NGO in Bhubaneswar City. It is there that the tailoring is done converting the fabric into the duvet cover sets. Fine 100% mercerized cotton hand-woven in India. The same ikat fabric appears on both sides of the duvet covers and pillowcases. Button closing along the bottom short edge. Comes as a set complete with standard UK-size pillowcases (75x50cm). Machine washable (suggested max 30°C). Dry flat to avoid creasing. Best ironed, if desired, before fully dry.
