Oko4 pottery is a clean, contemporary design for terracotta tableware. You have a choice from two colourschemes – blue (a blue-grey), or cream (slightly yellow cream). |
The glaze covers only the interior and part of the exterior of the pots, leaving the gorgeous colour of natural terracotta on the lower parts of the sides (and on the base).
|
This is no common terracotta: The clay is sourced from the Ganges, close to where the sacred river feeds out into the sea. This is exceptionally fine clay for pottery. This crockery is totally free from lead or cadmium. |
To make Oko4 tableware, each piece is hand thrown on the wheel and the pots are high fired up to 1050°C. The result is individual pots that are robust and suitable for the microwave and the dishwasher. |
|
Because of Oko's unglazed surfaces, water can permeate the terracotta during washing. It is best not to soak this crockery, and allow to dry off before placing the pottery on delicate surfaces such as polished wood.
