Onevillage.com patchworks are hand stitched at Mahila Patchwork Design Anya Udhyog Cooperative Society in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.     This society originally sprang out of the work of the local NGO «Ahmedabad Study Action Group» (ASAG), a coalition of professionals in social affairs, health care, architecture, economics, management and other fields.     An ASAG study of homelessness and poverty in one part of the city led them to the establishment of a low-cost housing settlement – and then to initiating the patchwork co-op to be a source of incomes and community empowerment.     The society has learnt from direct inputs by leading Indian designers, and over the years the members have developed their own understanding of attractive colour coordination and design.
